A bit of background.....

I was at a local fair in New York and could not believe my eyes when I saw this chicken. 

Who knew an animal like this existed? 

I had to get some photos and the young girl with the 4H was very nice and took her Silkie Chicken named Cotton out of the pen for me.

I was reading Harold Speed's book at the time and decided to make this portrait a tonal study on his recommendations.

"...there is a quality in dogs...rarely to be seen elsewhere and that is affection:  not the violent possessive protective love for their owner but rather that  mild, steady attachment to their friends that we see quite often in the best sort of dog."
